Will this work on my pool?

This kit is intended for gunite in-ground pools and is not intended or designed to address fiberglass or vinyl pools.

If the leak is in an area you can safely reach from the pool deck, you will have expert video tutorials to help you locate it. We've even included underwater epoxy and will guide you through making the repairs you need.

Finding:
Roughly 70% of pool leaks can be found using the Playbook kit and video tutorials from the deck edge.

Repairing:
Roughly 85% of the pool leaks found using the Playbook kit and video tutorials can also be repaired using the kit's epoxy and video guidance.

The Pool Leak Playbook offers homeowners the highest chance of finding and fixing their pool leak themselves. Still, some pool leaks will require a professional to locate and/or repair.

When can epoxy successfully stop a pool leak?

Epoxy is highly effective for stopping pool leaks - but only under the right conditions:

The repair area must be free of any previous epoxy; new epoxy will not bond well to old epoxy.
The crack should be no longer than 6 inches and no wider than ¼ inch. Longer or wider cracks usually indicate structural movement that an external sealant cannot permanently stop.
There must be enough solid finish material or grout for the epoxy to adhere to. Cracks in plastic components (such as jet threads or skimmer canisters) cannot be permanently repaired with epoxy.

When all three of these conditions are met, epoxy provides a clean, durable seal.

How many leaks can I fix with this kit?

The Playbook kit includes enough epoxy for roughly 4 linear feet of leak repair, using a three-eighth inch wide bead.

In a practical sense, that's enough epoxy to repair all leaks in 3 average residential pools that are all losing 2–3 inches per week.

What if I can't find the leak?

The Pool Leak Playbook is designed to give you the best possible chance of finding and fixing the most common pool leaks a homeowner can reasonably handle without professional equipment or experience.That includes leaks you can safely inspect and test from the pool deck or water's edge, along with many common leaks that can be repaired using the materials and guidance included in the kit.

Like any DIY project, there is also a learning curve. Finding a leak can require patience, careful observation, and sometimes repeating a test more than once. It’s completely possible to overlook a small clue or miss a leak - but The Playbook is designed to walk you through the process as clearly as possible and help you avoid the most common mistakes.

Some leaks, however, are simply beyond the reach of a DIY solution. A leak may be hidden in underground plumbing, require specialized locating equipment, be difficult to access safely, or require a more involved repair. Because every pool and leak is different, we can't guarantee that the Playbook will help you find or fix every leak.
